We all rely on email for communication. The following article explains how to ensure that your email program is configured correctly when using email accounts with your hosting account. Now that all modern email clients support, and recommend SSL, it is important to use settings that will let your email program connect without errors when sending and receiving email.
In the examples below replace any reference to yourdomain.com with your actual domain name. i.e. Using our own domain marken.com.au as the example. When the instructions say to use mail.yourdomain.comthen we would enter mail.marken.com.au.
Before starting you will need to know the email address and the password for the mailbox.
Scenario 1: Your web site and email are hosted here.
Username: user@yourdomain.com.au Password: (the password set when the mailbox was created) Incoming Server: mail.yourdomain.com.au IMAP Port: 993 POP3 Port: 995
IMAP, POP3, and SMTP (outgoing mail) require authentication. That means you must enter the username (email address) and password even if your email program displays that they are (optional).
If your email program has any other server address specified it must be changed to use mail.yourdomain.com.au to avoid warnings appearing about details not being trusted and certificates not matching.
Scenario 2: Your web is hosted elsewhere (WIX, Shopify, etc) and your email is hosted here.
Username: user@yourdomain.com.au Password: (the password set when the mailbox was created) Incoming Server: mail.yourdomain.com.au IMAP Port: 993 POP3 Port: 995 *If your domain was setup before 2017 then you may need to replace mail.yourdomain.com.au with webmail.yourdomain.com.au
Scenario 3: You have an email only plan.
Extra Email Information:
Webmail is available for all email accounts hosted here. Some school and government Internet access can restrict access to webmail so if one of the addresses below does not work try the next one.
Once you have logged in to Webmail (also available your hosting cPanel) there are options for Autoresponders, Calendars and Contacts, Password, Mail Client Configuration settings and scripts, tools to manage disk usage, Email Filters, Forwards and Delivery Tracking.

If you are looking for a dedicated email solution we would recommend looking at either the G Suite Business or G Suite Basic plans. Both are compatible with your web hosting plan and we can also provide migration services if required.
